Lights of hope against cancer ’26
In 2026, De Schorre in Boom once again became home to Light Up Against Cancer. In collaboration with with VRT and Kom op tegen Kanker, we brought the Light Village back to life: a warm and welcoming place where thousands of visitors gathered to honor everyone whose lives have been touched by cancer.
The Light Village
As tradition goes, visitors could personalize a light with the name of a loved one or a heartfelt message. Inside the cozy pavilion, wooden accents and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the event’s largest light installation, creating a place where people could pause, reflect and simply be together.
A special touch? Radio2 broadcast live from the village every day, while live music, family activities and food trucks gave people plenty of reasons to stay a little longer, share stories and find comfort in one another.
Stronger together
Rain or shine, thousands of visitors made their way to De Schorre. In total, they lit up the park with 26,187 personalized lights, each carrying its own story and meaning.
Powerful? Absolutely. Once again, Light Up Against Cancer showed just how much hope can shine through even the smallest gesture.
